Oshawa Dodgers 5, Toronto Maple Leafs 4

The Oshawa Dodgers scored 3 runs in the bottom of the eighth
inning today for a come from behind 5-4 win over the first place
Toronto Maple Leafs at Kinsmen Stadium.
Dodgers’ starter Ryan Balan pitched 7 2/3 of solid baseball.
Chad Stone came in with 2 outs in the 8th and retired the Toronto
batter to end the inning.
The Dodgers scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th.  Mick
Kurhan started the inning with a single then Pat Tobin laid down
a good bunt and Toronto pitcher Robert Bland threw the ball over
the first baseman's head and the Dodgers had runners on 2nd and
3rd.
The Dodgers scored 1 run and had 2 outs when Al Stephens
singled to right tying the score 4-4.  Then Darryl Reid came up
and singled to left potting the go ahead run.
In the 9th, Dodgers reliever Chad Stone threw a 3 up 3 down
inning for the victory.
At Optimist Day at the park the Dodgers drew 1022 fans despite a
constant rain all game long.
Jim Shaw had his number 15 honored today as it was put up on
the wall at Kinsmen Stadium.
Jim Shaw is in the Oshawa Sports Hall of Fame. Jim coached in
the Oshawa Legion Minor Baseball Association for over 20 years,
and is now a very active member in the Oshawa Optimist Club.
