In Toronto, Paul Spoljaric struck out 11 batters in seven innings to
back the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 5-3 win over the Oshawa Dodgers
in the first game of a double header at Christie Pits.
Spoljaric gave up three runs and eight hits and didn’t walk any
batters.
Rob Butler homered in the sixth inning and Damon Topolie had a
pair of hits, including a two-run double for Toronto.
Danny Gibbons and Kevin Treichel each launched three-run home
runs that powered Toronto to a 20-2 win in the second game.
Doug Dimma had four hits and drove in three runs for Toronto and
Chris Roth picked up the win after holding Oshawa scoreless on one
hit in five innings.
