Dodgers Battle for First Win of 2007
Winning Pitcher Greg Byron went six innings as the Oshawa
Dodgers earned their first win of the 2007 by defeating Guelph
Royals 9-6 in David E. Hastings Stadium at Guelph Saturday.
Byron gave up four runs, two of them earned on five hits and a
pair of walks. He struck out three. Byron was relieved in turn
by Blake Prior and Scott Robinson. Robinson got credit for the
save. Paul Bruder took the loss for Guelph going three innings
while allowing six runs on eight hits and three walks. He struck
out two of the 21 batters he faced. He had relief help from
Brian Dikdan and Mark McDonald.
Centrefielder Travis Skelton led the hit parade for the Dodgers
with a pair of hits including a home run and three runs batted
in. Ken Calway had three hits including two doubles. Mike
Dahiroc also doubled. For Guelph, rightfielder Ted Drew-Smith
had a pair of hits including a double and batted in one run.
