Panthers Shut Out Dodgers
Kirt Zimniewicz's RBI single with two out in the sixth inning sent Luke
Baker home with the game-winning run, which was all the Kitchener
Panthers needed to edge the Oshawa Dodgers 1-0 in the lone
Intercounty Baseball League game played this afternoon in Kinsmen
Baker scored the winning run after clubbing a two-out triple in the sixth.
The Panthers leading hitter was Zimniewicz with two singles, an RBI and a
stolen base. Oshawa's leader at the plate was Ken Calway with three hits
including two doubles.
Joel Scott earned the victory for Kitchener going seven innings, without
allowing a run on four hits and five walks. He recorded one strikeout.
John Stewart earned the save as he worked the final two innings. The
losing hurler for Oshawa was Matt Tosoni who went the distance (nine
innings) and allowed one earned run on eight hits. He had three
strikeouts. Neither team committed an error.
