Oshawa Clinches Final Playoff Spot

Scott Wells pitched a masterful game for the Hamilton Thunderbirds on
Pink Ladies Day as they blanked the Oshawa Dodgers 4-0 in their final
home game of the IBL regular season today (Sunday) in Bernie Arbour
Memorial Stadium.

Wells not only shutout the Dodgers, but he retired 13 of them on strikes
while allowing eight hits and two walks.  William Lawrence faced the final
two batters of the game and earned the save.

Oshawa starter Gord Robertson took the loss going four innings and
allowing two earned runs on six hits and a walk.  He had two strikeouts.
Robertson was followed in turn by Kevin Wallace and Blake Prior.

Adam Strongman led the Thunderbirds with two hits and two RBIs.  Brett
Prosper was the Oshawa leader with three singles and catcher Brian
Sewell had a single.

With Stratford losing today the Dodgers now clinch the eighth and final
playoff spot.  Oshawa will face the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday
July 25, 2007 at Christie Pitts with the rest of the schedule yet to be
determined.
