Leafs Shutout Dodgers to Take 2-1 Series Lead

Darryl Craig with a three-hitter through eight shutout innings to guide the
Toronto Maple Leafs to a 4-0 shutout over the Oshawa Dodgers 4-0 and
a 2-1 lead in games in their best of seven Intercounty Baseball League
quarterfinal series today (Sunday) here in Christie Pits.

Toronto collected seven hits in the game, but it was Kyle Gilligan’s infield
single, which scored the opening run in the fifth inning.  He batted in their
second run with a groundout in the seventh.  The Leafs added two more
runs in the eighth on a RBI single by Damon Topolie, and when Joe
Colameco stole home.

Topolie and Gamin Teague had two hits apiece while Vince Carbone led
the visiting Dodgers with two hits.

Craig allowed three hits, struck out nine batters, and walked four as the
Leafs earned their second shutout of the series.  For Oshawa, starter
Aaron Gordon went six and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on five
hits while striking out three and one walk.  He took the loss.

Action resumes at Oshawa with game four in Kinsmen Stadium, Tuesday
at 7:30 p.m.
