Garner Notches Fourth Win of the Season
In the opener, Adam Garner pitched a complete game three-hitter as
the Dodgers scored a 4-1 victory. Garner allowed one run with four
strikeouts and one walk, with Fleming’s three-run homer with two out in
the sixth inning driving in the winning runs. Mike Reeves had a triple
and a single for the Dodgers, who had seven hits.
Brantford starter Mike Meyers was the loser, allowing four earned runs
on seven hits over six innings, striking out five and walking two. Lee
Delfino’s solo homer in the fourth accounted for the lone Brantford run.
In game two, the host Red Sox scored seven runs in the first four
innings to defeat the Oshawa Dodgers 7-5 and salvage a split of their
Hyung Cho and Jason Gotwalt both homered and Josh McCurdy and
Justin Wendt both added a pair of hits to lead the Red Sox to the win.
Reliever Jon Ogiltree got the win with 2 1/3 innings in relief of starter
Steve Murray, allowing two runs – one earned – on four hits.
Cory Pappel got the final two outs to pick up the save as the Red Sox
survived a two-run rally by the Dodgers in the seventh inning.
Mark Jeffery had two hits, including a homer, for the Dodgers, while
Marcus Knecht and Ryan Fleming both had two hits. Starter Gilbert
Santana was the loser, allowing six earned runs on seven hits over 2
