Leafs bounce back on the road with win in Oshawa
Jeremy Walker had three hits and drove in three runs as the Toronto
Maple Leafs beat the Oshawa Dodgers 7-3 Wednesday night at
Drew Taylor went eight strong innings for the win, allowing two runs, just
one earned, on four hits with six strikeouts and three walks. Jeff Reeves
finished up, allowing a single run in the ninth, to complete the five-hitter.
Walker’s RBI double opened the scoring in the first and he added an RBI
single in Toronto’s three-run third that put the Leafs up 4-0 on Oshawa
starter Evan Grills, their 16-year-old sensation.
Grills didn’t make it out of the third inning, allowing four runs on seven
hits with two strikeouts and three walks in 2 2/3 innings.
Newcomer Mike Oninuere also had three hits for the Leafs, including a
double, and stole a pair of bases.
Mike Reeves went 1-for-1 with two walks for the Dodgers, who slipped to
10-8 but remained a half game ahead of the sixth place Leafs in the
