Dodgers Drop Slugfest
The Guelph Royals and the Oshawa Dodgers combined for 40 hits
with the Royals finally prevailing 17-15 in one of two Intercounty
baseball League games played on Saturday.
Frankie Hare hit for the cycle for the Royals, with a first inning
single, a second inning double, a third inning triple and a solo
homer in the bottom of the eighth inning to complete the cycle and
the scoring in the wild affair.
Hare wound up with four hits, four runs scored and four RBI while
Jamie Pogue belted a pair of home runs for the Royals, before he
came on to pitch a scoreless ninth in of relief to pick up the save.
Sean Reilly also homered and had three hits, and Jeremy Ware had
two hits and drove in three runs for Guelph, which became the third
IBL team to hit the 10-win plateau this season with the victory.
Duane Fagel, the second of three Guelph pitchers who relieved
starter Andrew Karkoulas, got the win. He went 2 2/3 shutout
innings, allowing four hits with two strikeouts.
Oshawa starter Brandyn Agnew was the loser. Agnew lasted 2 1/3
innings, allowing 10 runs on nine hits.
Marcus Knecht homered, had two hits and drove in four runs for the
Dodgers, while Jordan Castaldo had three hits and four RBI.
Cameron Robulak added three hits, two RBI and two runs scored
and Peter Bako had two hits and three RBI for Oshawa.
